´It was narrated from Ibn ‘Abbas that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` “The people of Paradise are those whose ears Allah fills with the praise of people when they are listening, and the people of Hell- fire are those whom He fills their ears with condemnation when they are listening.”
Explanation & Benefits
Maulana Ataullah Sajid
Benefits and Issues:
➊ Even in the absence of a righteous person, he is praised, and these words also reach his ears.
➋ When someone learns that people have a good opinion about him, he should thank Allah, strive even more to remain steadfast on the path of righteousness, and pray to Allah for steadfastness.
➌ When someone learns that people have a bad opinion about him, he should repent and reform himself so that his past sins may be forgiven and he may be granted the ability to do good in the future.
➍ Praise given in front of someone is not reliable, because people also praise as flattery.
