عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ الْهَمْدَانِيِّ , عَنْ

´It was narrated that ‘Aishah said:` “I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, ‘And those who give that (their charity) which they give (and also do other good deeds) with their hearts full of fear.” [23:60] Is this the one who commits adultery, steals and drinks alcohol?’ He said: ‘No, O daughter of Abu Bakr’ – O daughter of Siddiq – rather it is a man who fasts and gives charity and prays, but he fears that those will not be accepted from him.’”

Explanation & Benefits
Maulana Ataullah Sajid
Benefits and Issues:
➊ One should strive as much as possible to perform righteous deeds, but should not become fearless by relying solely on one's actions.
➋ Even in an apparently correct deed, there may be such a flaw due to which it may not be accepted.
➌ After performing a deed, one should continue to supplicate to Allah for its acceptance.
➍ It is not permissible to be proud of one's good deeds.
