´It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` “A wise word is the lost property of the believer, so wherever he finds it, he has more right to it.”

Hadith Authentication:
The chain of narration for this report is severely weak.
Regarding the narrator of this report, Ibrahim ibn al-Fadl al-Makhzumi, Abu Ishaq al-Madani:
Imam al-Bukhari said:
«منكر الحديث»
“He used to narrate munkar (denounced) hadiths.” [كتاب الضعفاء مع تحفة الاقوياء ص1۔ ت6]
This criticism, according to Imam al-Bukhari rahimahullah, is a severe criticism.
Other hadith scholars have also criticized this narrator in a similar manner and with the same meaning.
And Hafiz Ibn Hajar, as a summary, said:
«متروك» “He is abandoned (matruk).” [تقريب التهذيب : 228]
◄ According to the majority of hadith scholars, if it is established that a criticized narrator is munkar al-hadith (narrates denounced hadiths) or matruk (abandoned), then he is considered severely weak.
