Benefits and Issues:

It is evident that even the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam did not have enough food for his own needs, yet whatever few dates were available, he gave those away.

The Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam would give preference to the needs of his companions over his own needs. A leader should likewise take care of his companions in this manner.

Even when distributing a small amount, justice is just as necessary as it is in the distribution of a large amount of wealth.

The patience and selflessness of the noble Companions radi Allahu anhum is unparalleled; when each received only a single date, they were content with it, and no one expressed a desire for a larger share.
