´It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that they suffered from hunger and they were seven. He said:` “Then the Prophet (ﷺ) gave me seven dates, one date for each man.”

Benefits and Issues:
➊ It is evident that even the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam did not have enough food for his own needs, yet whatever few dates were available, he gave those away.
➋ The Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam would give preference to the needs of his companions over his own needs. A leader should likewise take care of his companions in this manner.
➌ Even when distributing a small amount, justice is just as necessary as it is in the distribution of a large amount of wealth.
➍ The patience and selflessness of the noble Companions radi Allahu anhum is unparalleled; when each received only a single date, they were content with it, and no one expressed a desire for a larger share.
