Explanation & Benefits
Maulana Ataullah Sajid
Benefits and Issues:

By "mudd" is meant a quarter of a "sa’" (sā‘), the amount of which is approximately six hundred and fifty grams.

The purpose of this statement by the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) is not complaint, but rather to present his own beautiful example in patience and gratitude, so that the Companions and other members of the Ummah may follow it.

Our esteemed researcher has declared the mentioned narration weak in its chain of transmission, whereas other scholars have considered it authentic. Dr. Bashar Awwad writes regarding this narration that, although its chain is weak, its text is authentic. Likewise, Shaykh al-Albani rahimahullah has also declared it authentic. After reading the discussion of these scholars, it appears that the opinion affirming the authenticity of the hadith is closer to being correct. And Allah knows best.
