Benefits and Issues:

This contains a description of the asceticism (zuhd), self-sufficiency (istighna), contentment (qana‘ah), and simplicity of the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam).

In the last years of his blessed life, the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) began to store dates and barley for the whole year, but the Mothers of the Believers (Ummahat al-Mu’minin), acting with generosity, would spend them quickly. Therefore, most of the time, they would manage without bread, curry, or meat, etc. Sometimes, even dates were not available.
