Brief Explanation
1؎: This is considered as having the status of a marfu‘ hadith. From these numerous ahadith, it is established that the Shari‘ah has legislated washing the limbs of ablution (wudu) three times, two times, and even once, all for the sake of ease; one may do as is convenient.
Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Muhammad Ameen
81. Commentary: Imam Bukhari rahimahullah states: Washing each limb of ablution (wudu) once is obligatory (fard), and washing them twice or thrice is Sunnah. See: [صحیح البخاري ، الوضوء ، قبل حدیث : 135]
Like other hadith scholars, Imam Bukhari rahimahullah has also established chapters on this subject. Refer to: [صحیح البخاري ، الوضوء ، حدیث : 157- 159]
It is mentioned in the hadith that whoever washes more than three times exceeds and deviates from the Sunnah and commits injustice against himself. See: [سنن النسائي ، الطھارة ، حدیث : 140 ، و سنن أبي داود ، الطھارة ، حدیث : 135]
