Hadith Commentary:
In this hadith, there is mention of a prophecy of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), as has already been clarified in the benefits of the preceding ahadith. This prophecy concerns two nations. Among them, one is the Turks. Its details have been explained under Hadith 2927. Imam al-Bukhari (rahimahullah) has established the chapter heading “Fighting the Turks” for this hadith in the Book of Jihad. And Allah is the One whose help is sought.

Hadith Commentary:
In the hadith, "mutawwaqa" or "mutarraqa" is mentioned; both words have the same meaning. The reference is to the Tatar nations, who later embraced the religion of Islam.
By "Turk" here is meant the nation that is from the descendants of Yafith ibn Nuh (Japheth, son of Noah).
Generally, the Tatars remained disbelievers until the times of the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) and the caliphs of Islam.
It was not until Hulagu Khan, a Turk, attacked the Arabs and brought an end to the Abbasid Caliphate.
After that, some Turks embraced Islam.
Wahb ibn Munabbih said that the Turks are the cousins of Gog and Magog (Ya'juj wa Ma'juj).
When the barrier (dam) was built, these people were absent and remained on the same side of the wall.
For this reason, their name became "Turk," meaning "left behind" or "abandoned." And Allah knows best what is correct.
