´It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` “The Hour will not begin until the Euphrates uncovers a mountain of gold and people fight over it, and out of every ten, nine will be killed.’”

Benefits and Issues:

Our esteemed researcher has declared the mentioned narration weak due to it being shaadh (anomalous), whereas other scholars have graded the rest of the narration as hasan (good) except for one phrase.
Shaykh al-Albani and Dr. Bashar Awwad write regarding this narration that, except for the phrase (مِنْ كُلِّ عَشرَة تِسْعَة)
“nine out of every ten people,”
the rest of the narration is hasan sahih (good and authentic).
This is because the mentioned phrase is shaadh (anomalous), while the preserved wording is (مِنْ كُلِّ مِائَةٌ تِسْعَة وَّ تِسْعُوْن)
“ninety-nine out of every hundred.”
Moreover, our esteemed researcher has also declared this phrase shaadh.
Therefore, the narration becomes hasan except for this phrase.
And Allah knows best. See: (Sahih Sunan Ibn Majah by al-Albani, no. 3286, and Sunan Ibn Majah, verified by Dr. Bashar Awwad, no. 4046)

The Euphrates River starts from Turkey, passes through Syria and Iraq, and falls into the Persian Gulf.
The part of Turkey that is irrigated by it is also the area where the movement for a separate country named Kurdistan is ongoing.
And the part of Iraq where it falls into the sea
is near the borders of both Iran and Kuwait.
Therefore, when the treasure of mineral wealth appears in this region, war breaking out among the countries of the area is inevitable.
Along with this, under the pretext of the security and protection of the region, major powers (America, Russia, China, etc.)
may also participate in order to seize this wealth.

The wisdom in giving advance news of this event is that intelligent people should not be greedy for wealth and should not participate in the war and lose their lives—especially since this war will be so severe and dangerous that ninety-nine percent of the people will be killed and only one percent of the fighters will survive.
Even their condition, due to wounds and diseases, will not be enviable.

Hadith Commentary:

Some people have interpreted this as referring to an oil or petrol well made of gold, but this is not correct because the hadith is an explicit text about a mountain of gold, whereas petrol does not contain gold; rather, gold is the name of a mineral.
In another hadith, this is further clarified, where the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said:
"Soon the earth will throw out its pieces from its insides, like great columns of gold and silver.
A murderer will come and say:
It was for this that I committed murder.
A breaker of family ties will come and say:
It was for this that I broke ties of kinship.
A thief will come and say:
It was for this that my hand was cut off.
Then all of them will leave it and none will take anything from it."
(Sahih Muslim, Al-Zakat, Hadith: 2341(1013))

The prohibition of taking anything from this treasure is because there will be a situation of killing and bloodshed there, as is stated in the narration of Ubayy ibn Ka'b (radi Allahu anhu) that the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said:
"A mountain of gold will appear in the Euphrates.
When people hear of it, they will head towards it, and those who are present there will say:
If we let them take from this mountain, they will take all the gold.
Eventually, fighting will break out and ninety-nine percent of the people will be killed."

Hadith Commentary:
Vocabulary of the Hadith:
(1)
Ajm,
fortress,
the plural is "ajām."
(2)
A'naq,
"unuq" (neck)
is its singular,
by this is meant
to describe the greed and covetousness of people, that generally people try to surpass one another in acquiring worldly gains, and this very thing becomes the cause of mutual resentment and discord among them.
