´It was narrated that Anas said:` “One day, Jibril (as) came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) when he was sitting in a sorrowful state with his face soaked with blood, because some of the people of Makkah had struck him. He said: ‘What is the matter with you?’ He said: ‘These people did such and such to me.’ He said: ‘Would you like me to show you a sign?’ He said: ‘Yes, show me.’ He looked at a tree on the far side of the valley and said: ‘Call that tree.’ So he called it, and it came walking until it stood before him. He said: ‘Tell it to go back.’ So he told it, and it went back to its place. Then the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘That is sufficient for me.’”

Benefits and Issues:
➊
The mentioned narration has been declared weak in chain (sanad) by our esteemed researcher, whereas other scholars have declared it authentic. The researchers of al-Mawsu‘ah al-Hadithiyyah, Musnad al-Imam Ahmad, write regarding it that the chain of this narration is strong and upon the conditions of Muslim. Likewise, Shaykh al-Albani and Dr. Bashar ‘Awwad, among others, have also declared it authentic, from which it appears that the opinion of authenticity is closer to being correct.
And Allah knows best.
For further details, see: (al-Mawsu‘ah al-Hadithiyyah, Musnad al-Imam Ahmad: 19/165, 166; Sahih Sunan Ibn Majah by al-Albani, no. 3270; Sunan Ibn Majah, verified by Dr. Bashar ‘Awwad, no. 4028)
➋
This incident is from the Makkan period.
It is possible that Anas radi Allahu anhu heard it from an older Companion, or that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam himself narrated it.
➌
The movement of the tree at the command of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam is a miracle.
The purpose of showing this miracle was that the status and rank of the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam is very high with Allah Ta‘ala, but due to certain special wisdoms, it is necessary to endure some hardships.
➍
Its purpose was also to console the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, that every creation of Allah is with you and is among those who have faith in you.
