Explanation & Benefits
Maulana Ataullah Sajid
Benefits and Issues: ➊ To enjoin good means to encourage goodness in an appropriate manner. A ruler may command his subjects, a father his children, and a husband his wife, as they are obliged to obey him. Others cannot be commanded in this manner.
➋ If one has the power to forbid evil, then it should be done by hand (such as a ruler, parents, or husband, etc.). Otherwise, it is necessary to forbid with the tongue (as a scholar admonishes the public). If even this is not possible, then it is necessary to harbor hatred for the sin in the heart.
➌ Committing sins becomes an obstacle to the acceptance of supplications; therefore, one should repent.
