Hadith 3944

´It was narrated from Sunabih Al-Ahmasi that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` “I shall reach the Cistern (Haud) before you, and I will boast of your great numbers before the nations, so do not fight one another after I am gone.’”

Explanation & Benefits
Maulana Ataullah Sajid
Benefits and Issues:
➊ The meaning of (farat) is “one who goes ahead” or “one who precedes with provisions,” that is, a person who reaches the destination before the caravan to designate a suitable place for their encampment and arranges water and other necessities for them and their animals.

➋ On the Day of Resurrection, in the plain of gathering, the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) will give water to his ummah from the Pond of Kawthar (Hawd al-Kawthar). Water will come into this pond from the river “Kawthar” of Paradise.

➌ The large number of the ummah is a source of happiness and pride for the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam); therefore, it is obligatory to understand the disbelievers’ conspiracy to limit the Muslim population under the name of “family planning,” and to save oneself and other Muslims from falling into their trap.

➍ It is necessary to raise children according to the religious and moral principles of Islam so that they become beneficial members of the Ummah of Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam).

Benefit:
In this hadith, there is mention of the Pond of Kawthar; also see the explanation of hadith 797. Firstly, there should be an abundance of children; every method in which family planning is done is not correct, except if there is a legitimate (shar‘i) excuse. The sustenance that Allah, the Exalted, is granting us, He will also grant to our children. Quarreling and fighting among yourselves is itself prohibited, let alone killing.
