´It was narrated from 'Abdullah bin Buraidah that :` his father said: "The Messenger of Allah (saas) said: Allahumma Anta Rabbi la ilaha illa Anta, khalaqtani wa ana 'abduka wa ana 'ala 'ahdika wa wa'dika mastata'tu. A'udhu bika min sharri ma sana'tu, abu'u bi ni'matika wa abu'u bi dhanbi faghfirli, fa innahu la yaghfirudh-dhunuba illa Anta (O Allah, You are my Lord, there is none worthy of worship except You. You have created me and I am Your slave, and I am adhering to Your covenant and Your promise as much as I can. I seek refuge with You from the evil of what I do. I acknowledge Your blessing and I acknowledge my sin, so forgive me, for there is none who can forgive sin except You)."He said: "The Messenger of Allah (saas) said: 'Whoever says this by day and by night, if he dies that day or that night, he will enter Paradise if Allah wills."

Explanation & Benefits
Maulana Ataullah Sajid
Benefits and Issues:

➊ The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) has declared this supplication as “Sayyid al-Istighfar” — that is, the chief of all supplications for seeking forgiveness. (Sahih al-Bukhari, Book of Supplications, Chapter: The Best Form of Seeking Forgiveness, Hadith: 6306)

➋ This is the most excellent supplication for seeking forgiveness from Allah, because within it there is trust and reliance upon Allah’s essence, affirmation of His Lordship, the expression of one’s servitude, acknowledgment of Allah’s blessings, confession of one’s shortcomings, and along with all this, the expression of resolve to remain steadfast in His obedience.

➌ In the aforementioned narration of Sahih al-Bukhari, the words (mūqinān bihā) are also present, meaning: whoever recites this supplication with firm conviction in his heart, and then dies during that night or day, will enter Paradise.

Benefits and Issues:
This blessed supplication is referred to as Sayyid al-Istighfar (the Chief of Seeking Forgiveness), because in it the servant acknowledges the perfect greatness and majesty of Allah, Lord of all the worlds, while also expressing his utmost humility and servitude.
