1؎ : That is, in the sight of Allah Ta'ala, his saying «الحمد للہ» is superior to the blessing that Allah Ta'ala has given him. Thus, the servant has received the blessing, and what is superior to it in the sight of Allah Ta'ala is his (the servant's) expression of gratitude; otherwise, in comparison to His blessing, what significance does a single word uttered by us hold? Even if we were to say «الحمد للہ» for millions of years, we would still not be able to fulfill the gratitude for His blessings.
Explanation & Benefits
Maulana Ataullah Sajid
Benefits and Issues: A servant gives importance to the apparent blessings of this world, although the ability to offer gratitude (shukr) for that blessing, and the resulting rewards in the Hereafter, are far better and superior than this worldly blessing itself. Therefore, as soon as a blessing is received, it is necessary to offer gratitude, and this is also beneficial for the servant.
