Hadith 3710

´It was narrated that Jabir said:` "I said: 'How are you this morning, O Messenger of Allah?' He said: 'I am better than one who did not get up fasting, and who did not visit and sick.'"

Brief Explanation
1؎: Here, the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) expressed his own shortcoming before Allah Ta'ala, despite the fact that he did not fast and did not visit the sick, yet the Master’s favor is such that He granted him a safe morning. Subhan Allah! The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), despite his abundance of worship, spiritual exercises, nearness to Allah, and being pure and free from sins, would acknowledge his own shortcomings and express gratitude for the blessings of the Master. Then what right does any servant have to be proud of his own worship, obedience, or piety? Indeed, Allah Ta'ala, purely out of His grace and mercy, feeds and gives us drink, and allows us to pass our mornings and evenings in safety and well-being. O Allah! However much we thank You for Your favors and blessings, it is still insufficient.
