´It was narrated from Abu Dharr that the Prophet(ﷺ) said:` "My nation was shown to me with their good deeds and bad deeds. Among their good deeds I saw a harmful thing being removed from the road. And among their bad deeds I saw sputum in the mosque that had not been removed."
➊ Every action is a good deed from which people derive benefit or are protected from harm (provided that it does not contradict any specific ruling of the Shariah), and every action is an evil deed which is contrary to this.
➋ One should not abandon any good deed considering it insignificant, nor should one commit any evil deed considering it insignificant.
➌ Special care should be taken regarding the cleanliness of the mosque.
➍ In that era, the floor was unpaved, so by throwing soil over phlegm, etc., it would be absorbed and eliminated. According to present circumstances, cleaning with water is necessary.
➎ If there is a need to spit, one should go to the place of ablution (wudu) and spit there, or spit into a handkerchief; if there is any aversion, the handkerchief may be washed afterwards.
