Hadith 3674

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ , حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ , حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَاق , عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ , عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ , قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَا زَالَ جِبْرَائِيلُ يُوصِينِي بِالْجَارِ , حَتَّى ظَنَنْتُ أَنَّهُ سَيُوَرِّثُهُ " .
´It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah that the Messenger of Allah(ﷺ) said:` "Jibra'il kept enjoining good treatment of neighbours until I thought he would make neighbours heirs."

Benefits and Issues:
➊ The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) did not issue any legal ruling from his own desire; rather, he would act upon and have others act upon the ruling that was revealed through revelation.
➋ The laws of inheritance are based on textual evidences; analogy (qiyas) does not apply to them.
➌ One should be mindful to show the utmost good conduct towards neighbors.
