Brief Explanation
1؎: That is, it was mostly the habit that in performing ablution (wudu), bringing water, and purifying clothes, he would not take help from anyone. However, if someone willingly served the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, he would not prevent them either. As has just been mentioned in the narration above, Umm al-Mu’minin Aisha radi Allahu anha used to place water for the ablution of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, and Abdullah ibn Mas’ud radi Allahu anhu was famous as the companion of the water-skin and sandals, meaning he was renowned among the Companions for bringing the water-skin for the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam at the time of ablution and for bringing and placing his sandals. And Thawban radi Allahu anhu performed ablution for the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.
