Hadith 3619

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ , حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ , عَنْ سُفْيَانَ , عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ , عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ , قَالَ : نَهَى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَنْ يَنْتَعِلَ الرَّجُلُ قَائِمًا " .
´It was narrated that Ibn ‘Umar said:` “The Prophet (ﷺ) forbade putting on sandals whilst standing.”

Our esteemed researcher has declared both of the aforementioned narrations as weak in terms of their chain of transmission, whereas other scholars have deemed them authentic. In particular, Shaykh al-Albani rahimahullah has conducted an extensive discussion on this hadith, from which the opinion favoring authenticity appears to be correct, and Allah knows best. Therefore, it is better to wear shoes while sitting, especially those shoes which are difficult to put on while standing.
