Hadith 3575

حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّوْرَقِيُّ , حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو تُمَيْلَةَ , عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمُؤْمِنِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ , عَنْ ابْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ , عَنْ أُمِّهِ , عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ , قَالَتْ : " لَمْ يَكُنْ ثَوْبٌ أَحَبَّ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنَ الْقَمِيصِ " .
´It was narrated that Umm Salamah said:` There was no garment more beloved to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) than the shirt.”

Explanation & Benefits

Benefits and Issues:
Perhaps the reason for this is that a sheet (chadar) has to be managed, whereas after wearing a shirt (qamees), the hands can be used more easily.
And the shirt (qamees) of the Arabs reaches down to the bottom, so if it is made of thick cloth, then even without an izar (lower garment), the private parts remain covered.
