Hadith 3543

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ , حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ نَافِعٍ , عَنْ ابْنِ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي الْخَصِيبِ , حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ , عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي هِنْدٍ جَمِيعًا , عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ عُثْمَانَ , عَنْ أُمِّهِ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتِ الْحُسَيْنِ , عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ , أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , قَالَ : " لَا تُدِيمُوا النَّظَرَ إِلَى الْمَجْذُومِينَ " .
´It was narrated from Ibn ‘Abbas that the Prophet (ﷺ) said:` “Do not keep looking at those who have leprosy.”

To look fully at such a patient will cause him emotional pain.
Therefore, one should avoid this.


Upon seeing anyone afflicted with a calamity, one should quietly recite this supplication: (Alhamdu lillahi alladhi ‘afani mimma ibtalaka bihi wa faddalani ‘ala kathirin mimman khalaqa tafdila)
All praise is due to Allah, Who has kept me safe from that with which He has afflicted you,
and has favored me greatly over many of those whom He has created.
By the blessing of this supplication, the one who recites it will remain protected from that illness. (Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith: 3892)
