´It was narrated that ‘Ubaid bin Rifa’ah Az-Zuraqi said:` “Asma’ said: ‘O Messenger of Allah! The children of Ja’far have been afflicted by the evil eye, shall I recite Ruqyah* for them?’ He said: ‘Yes, for if anything were to overtake the Divine decree it would be the evil eye.’”

Benefits and Issues:
➊
The sons of Ja'far al-Tayyar radi Allahu anhu (ibn Abi Talib) are the own sons of Asma' bint Umays radi Allahu anha. When Ja'far radi Allahu anhu was martyred in the Battle of Mu'tah in 8 AH, Abu Bakr radi Allahu anhu married Asma', which is why they are referred to as the sons of Ja'far. After the death of Abu Bakr radi Allahu anhu, this woman was married by Ali radi Allahu anhu.
➋
It is permissible to perform ruqyah (spiritual healing) or have it performed due to the evil eye or illness, provided that the ruqyah does not contain any polytheistic or meaningless, nonsensical words.

Benefit:
From this hadith, the permissibility of ruqyah (spiritual healing by recitation) is established; treating the evil eye or any illness with ruqyah is a Sunnah practice. Some people have made ruqyah a means of income—they charge (300) rupees per ruqyah, and some extort up to thirty thousand for a single ruqyah by frightening patients and making claims about the unseen. One should stay away from such practitioners of ruqyah; they are robbing you of your faith and wealth. Divine decree (qadar) is true; it is also established that nothing can precede what has been decreed. Whatever the servants were to do is already in the knowledge of Allah, and that alone is written; this is called qadar (divine decree).
