´It was narrated that Sahl bin Sa’d As-Sa’idi said:` “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was wounded on the Day of Uhud. His molar was broken and his helmet was crushed on his head. Fatimah was washing the blood from him and ‘Ali was pouring water on him from a shield. When Fatimah realized that the water was only making the bleeding worse, she took a piece of a mat and burnt it, and when it had turned to ashes, she applied it to the wound to stop the bleeding.
Explanation & Benefits
Maulana Ataullah Sajid
Benefits and Issues:
➊ The front teeth which are exactly in the middle at the front are called "thanaaya" (incisors). The teeth adjacent to them (one on the right side, one on the left side), after them the molars (daadh) begin.
➋ Mats (haseer) in Arabia were made from palm leaves. Whether the ash is from palm leaves, from jute sacks, or from cotton cloth, it stops the bleeding.
➌ The coming of difficulties upon the Noble Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) is a lesson for the Ummah: that they should bear the hardships encountered in the path of truth with a cheerful face, and it is also a lesson in tawheed (monotheism), that even the Noble Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) was not the absolute disposer of affairs (mukhtaar kull). Otherwise, without enduring the hardships of jihad, he would have made everyone Muslim in a single moment.
