Hadith 3445

´It was narrated that ‘Aishah said:` “If any of his family members became ill, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) would order that some broth be made. And he would say: ‘It consoles the grieving heart and cleanses the ailing heart, as anyone of you cleanses her face of dirt with water.’”

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Dr. Abdur Rahman Freywai
Explanation:
1:
In the Book of Medicine, it is narrated that Aisha (radi Allahu anha) used to instruct the sick and those grieving over the deceased to drink talbinah, and she used to say: I heard the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) say:
Talbinah brings comfort and tranquility to the heart of the sick,
and it lightens grief to some extent.

Note:
(In the chain of narration, Umm Muhammad is a reliable narrator,
that is, at the time of corroboration,
and the author has mentioned the corroboration of Urwah,
which is found in the two Sahihs (Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim),
but "kama tasurru...etc." is weak due to not being a witness or corroborator,
Hafiz Ibn Hajar has also mentioned this last phrase with reference to al-Nasa'i in Fath al-Bari, and he has also mentioned this hadith of Ahmad and al-Tirmidhi,
and he remained silent,
this too is an indication of the strength of this hadith in his view.)
Note 2: (In Tuhfat al-Ashraf it is stated that al-Tirmidhi said:
And al-Zuhri narrated from Urwah from Aisha something of this nature.)
