If there is a need to breathe while drinking water, milk, or any other beverage, one should remove the vessel from the mouth and then breathe. Afterward, one may drink again as needed.

Benefits and Issues:
➊
The best practice is that a person should drink in three breaths, and separate the vessel from the mouth while taking a breath.
➋
It is also not permissible to blow into food or drink.
If the food or beverage is too hot, one should wait and consume it after it cools down.
Similarly, if a straw or something similar has fallen into it, it should be removed by hand and not by blowing.
➌
Some scholars consider it impermissible to recite the Qur’an or any supplication and then blow (for blessing).
Whereas other scholars say that by reciting Surah Al-Fatihah and prescribed supplications, some effect is produced in it.
Therefore, they do not include blowing after recitation (ruqyah) among the prohibited forms of blowing.
Rather, they consider it permissible.

Benefits and Issues:
➊
This hadith is authentic that the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) forbade blowing into a vessel. (See Ibn Majah, Hadith: 3429)
➋
It is narrated from Abu Sa’id (radi Allahu anhu) that the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) forbade blowing into a drink.
A man asked:
What if there is something undesirable (like a straw, etc.) in the vessel?
He (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said:
Pour it out. (Pour out a little water so that it comes out as well.)
He said:
I do not become satisfied with one breath (when drinking).
He (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said:
Remove the cup from your mouth. (Jami’ al-Tirmidhi, al-Ashriba, Chapter: What has been reported about the dislike of blowing into a drink, Hadith: 1887)
From this, it is understood that one should remove the vessel from the mouth and then breathe.
