Hadith 3411

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ بْنُ بَيَانٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ , حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ , عَنْ سُهَيْلٍ , عَنْ أَبِيهِ , عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ , قَالَ : أَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " بِتَغْطِيَةِ الْإِنَاءِ , وَإِيكَاءِ السِّقَاءِ , وَإِكْفَاءِ الْإِنَاءِ " .
´It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said:` “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) commanded us to cover our vessels, tie up our water skins and turn over our vessels.”

By turning an empty small vessel upside down, the aforementioned purpose is achieved.
When there is something present in the vessel or the vessel is large, then it should be covered.
