´It was narrated that ‘Aishah said:` “We used to make Nabidh for the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) in a water skin. We would take a handful of dates or a handful of raisins, and put them in it, then pour water over it. We would make that in the morning and he would drink it in the evening, or we would make it in the evening and he would drink it in the morning.”
Explanation & Benefits
Maulana Ataullah Sajid
Benefits and Issues:
By soaking from morning till evening or from evening till morning, the sweetness is thoroughly infused into the water, but intoxication does not occur; therefore, this drink is undoubtedly permissible.

Hadith Commentary:
Benefits and Issues:
➊ If dates or raisins are thoroughly rubbed by hand and then put into water, the nabidh (date or raisin-infused drink) is prepared quickly, and the possibility of intoxication arising in it also occurs sooner.
➋ If dates and raisins are simply placed in water without rubbing, then intoxication does not develop quickly.
➌ There is also a difference between the seasons of heat and cold: in summer, fermentation and intensity develop quickly, while in winter, it is delayed.
➍ Therefore, the narration of Ibn Abbas radi Allahu anhu would pertain to the winter season, and the hadith of Aisha radi Allahu anha would be regarding the summer season.

Explanation: ➊
The point is that nabidh was not left in its container for a long time, lest intoxication should develop in it.
