Hadith 3397

´It was narrated from ‘Abdullah bin Abu Qatadah, from his father, that he heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say:` “Do not combine fresh dates and unripe dates, or raisins and dates; rather make Nabidh with each one of them on its own.”*

Explanation & Benefits
Shaykh Abdul Sattar al-Hammad
Hadith Commentary:
Preparing nabidh by mixing ripe and semi-ripe dates, or similarly by making juice from mixing raisins and dates, is prohibited because doing so causes the mixture to ferment quickly and the drink soon becomes intoxicating. Therefore, this type of nabidh has been forbidden.
If nabidh is prepared from these items separately, then there is no harm.
And Allah knows best.

Shaykh Maulana Abdul Aziz Alvi
Hadith Commentary: Benefits and Issues: The reward for every good deed is at least tenfold. Therefore, a person who, with great care, performs ritual bath (ghusl), comes early for Jumu‘ah before the sermon, and, to the best of his ability, offers voluntary prayers (nawafil), and when the sermon begins, listens to it attentively and silently—then his minor sins of ten days are forgiven, and the remaining reward is separate.

Hafiz Muhammad Ameen
The purpose of the chapter is that nabidh should be prepared in leather waterskins instead of earthenware pots and the like (only the mouth of a leather waterskin can be tied). Intoxication develops quickly in pots, especially those coated with tar.
