´It was narrated from Ya'la bin Murrah that his father said:` "I was with the Prophet on a journey, and he wanted to relieve himself. He said to me: 'Go to those two small date-palm trees and tell them: "The Messenger of Allah orders you to come together.'" So they came together and he concealed himself behind them, and relieved himself. Then he said to me: 'Go to them and tell them: "Go back, each one of you, to your places.'" So I said that to them and they went back."

Commentary:
(1)
This is a miracle (mu‘jizah) of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam): Allah, the Exalted, caused the trees to move from their places for him and then returned them to their original places. Furthermore, the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) did not directly command the trees; rather, a companion (sahabi) conveyed the message to them, and they complied. This is a karamah (miraculous feat) of the companion.
(2)
From this, it is understood how much the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) observed privacy when relieving himself, to the extent that he did not consider a single date-palm sapling sufficient for a screen, until by Allah’s command, a second sapling joined with it to provide greater concealment.
