1؎: A person who eats much, if he does not get food, experiences great distress—more so than one who eats little and is able to endure hunger. The Day of Resurrection will be very long, and those who ate excessively will be greatly troubled by not receiving food throughout that day. Some have said: those who eat much, their final desires are eating and drinking, and with death these desires come to an end, which will be very unpleasant for them. As for those who eat little, they do not have a strong desire for food; rather, for the sake of survival and worship, they control their needs and overcome hunger and thirst. Their desire is for worship and purification of the heart, and this desire will remain after death. Therefore, they will be in comfort and bliss.
´Yahya Al-Bakka' narrated from Ibn 'Umar who said:` "A man belched in the presence of the Prophet(s.a.w), so he said: 'Restain your belching from us. For indeed those who are filled most in the world will be the hungriest on the Day of Judgement.'"
Shaykh Dr. Abdur Rahman Freywai
Explanation: 1: Belching generally results from overeating, which is why the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said this to that man. However, if belching occurs due to a gastric illness, then this hadith does not apply to such belching, because in that case, it is a situation of necessity.
