´It was narrated from Ibn ‘Ata that his father said:` “Abu Hurairah visited his people, meaning, a village” – I (one of the narrators) think he said: “Yuna” – “And they brought him some of the first thin loaves of bread. He wept and said: ‘The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) never saw such a thing with his own eyes.’”

Hadith Commentary:
Abu Hurairah (radi Allahu anhu), recalling the condition of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), did not find it agreeable to eat this food. And since this was not a wedding feast (walimah) invitation, accepting it was also not obligatory.

Hadith Commentary:
(1)
Abu Hurairah radi Allahu anhu reflected upon the extent of hardship in the worldly livelihood of the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam and the noble Companions radi Allahu anhum. Therefore, he refused to eat the roasted goat, and recalling the condition of the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, he did not find it agreeable to eat it.
(2)
Since this was not a wedding feast (walimah), accepting this invitation was not obligatory, because it is prohibited to refuse a wedding feast invitation without a valid reason.
