Hadith 3329

´It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that when the first fruits (of the season) were brought, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) would say:` “O Allah, bless us in our city and in our fruits, in our Mudd and in our Sa’,* blessing upon blessing.” Then he would give it to the smallest of the children present.

Hadith Commentary:

Benefits and Issues:
The purpose of these narrations is that if a new Muslim, or a child who has reached puberty, or someone who has regained consciousness after insanity or unconsciousness, or a woman who has become pure from menstruation (hayd) or postnatal bleeding (nifas), finds the last part of the time for a prayer, then all of them must perform that prayer. Even if only enough time remains for one rak‘ah, this prayer becomes obligatory upon all of them. Similarly, if someone catches one rak‘ah with the imam, he will attain the virtue of congregation (jama‘ah). Likewise, if due to some compulsion or necessity, someone begins the prayer at such a time that after performing one rak‘ah, the time for the prayer ends, then he will complete that prayer. The meaning of these ahadith is not that by catching one rak‘ah, he has attained the complete prayer and now there is no need to perform the remaining prayer. According to no imam can this meaning be taken.

Explanation:
1:
O Allah! Bless our fruits for us,
and bless our city for us,
bless our sa‘ (a measure) for us,
bless our mudd (a smaller measure) for us.
O Allah! Ibrahim (alayhis salam) is Your servant,
Your friend, and Your prophet,
and I am also Your servant and Your prophet.
He prayed to You for Makkah,
and I pray to You for Madinah,
with a supplication similar to the one Ibrahim (alayhis salam) made for Makkah,
rather, grant it double the blessing.
