Explanation & Benefits
Maulana Ataullah Sajid
Benefits and Issues:
Hafiz Ibn Qayyim rahimahullah, after mentioning this hadith, has stated:
(وَالْمُرَادُبِهِ الْأَخْضَر)
By this, what is meant is “batikh akhdar,” that is, watermelon (tarbuz). (Zad al-Ma'ad, Chapter: Mention of Some Individual Medicines and Foods That Came on the Tongue of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam)
“Batikh” refers both to watermelon (tarbuz) and to melon (kharboozah).
In Musnad Ahmad, in place of “batikh,” the word “khiriz” (melon) is used. (Musnad Ahmad: 3/142, 143)
