Hadith 3319

حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ , حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ , أَنْبَأَنَا مَعْمَرٌ , عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ , عَنْ أَبِيهِ , عَنْ عُمَرَ , قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " ائْتَدِمُوا بِالزَّيْتِ وَادَّهِنُوا بِهِ , فَإِنَّهُ مِنْ شَجَرَةٍ مُبَارَكَةٍ " .
´It was narrated from ‘Umar that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` ‘Season (your food) with olive oil and anoint yourselves with it, for it comes from a blessed tree.”

Benefits and Issues:
➊ Vegetable oil is more beneficial than butter obtained from milk or animal fat.
➋ Among vegetable oils, olive oil is the finest and most beneficial.
➌ Allah Ta’ala has described the olive tree as a blessed tree in the Noble Qur’an. ((Surah An-Nur: Ayah 35)

Explanation:
1:
Because this tree is found in abundance in the land of Sham (Greater Syria),
and Sham is the region about which the Lord of the worlds has stated that We have made this land blessed for all the worlds,
it is said that more than seventy prophets and messengers were born in this land, among them Ibrahim (alayhis salam) as well,
since this tree grows in a blessed land,
therefore it is blessed,
and in this regard, its fruit and oil are also not devoid of blessing.
