Benefit:
Bottle gourd (kadu) is a beneficial vegetable. Adding vegetables, especially bottle gourd, to meat while cooking is a source of blessing and taste. In the hadith narrated from Sayyiduna Anas radi Allahu anhu (Sahih al-Bukhari: 5379), it is mentioned that bottle gourd was a favorite food of the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. So, ever since I saw the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, from that day onwards, I have always loved bottle gourd. A true lover is one who loves the beloved and also loves what the beloved loves and prefers. Imam Nawawi rahimahullah states that it is very good for a Muslim to consider bottle gourd desirable and to eat it eagerly as a favored food.
