حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ كَاسِبٍ ، وَحَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى , قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ، حَدَّثَنِي سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ جَزْءٍ الزُّبَيْدِيَّ ، يَقُولُ : " كُنَّا نَأْكُلُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , فِي الْمَسْجِدِ , الْخُبْزَ وَاللَّحْمَ " .
´It was narrated that ‘Abdullah bin Harith bin Jaz’ Az-Zubaidi said:` “At the time of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) we used to eat bread and meat in the mosque.”

Benefits and Issues:
➊ It is permissible to eat and drink in the mosque, but one should not make it a habit.
➋ When eating food in the mosque, care should be taken to maintain the cleanliness of the mosque. Food items should not be allowed to fall on the floor, mats, or carpets, etc.

Abstinence (zuhd) does not mean refraining from the use of Allah’s blessings; rather, zuhd is to avoid what is unlawful (haram) and to protect oneself from the greed of the world.

Ablution (wudu) is not nullified by eating something cooked over fire. See: (Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith: 488, 493)
