Hadith 3277

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْمُنْذِرِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُضَيْلٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَطَاءُ بْنُ السَّائِبِ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : قَال رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا وُضِعَ الطَّعَامُ فَخُذُوا مِنْ حَافَتِهِ ، وَذَرُوا وَسَطَهُ ، فَإِنَّ الْبَرَكَةَ تَنْزِلُ فِي وَسَطِهِ " .
´It was narrated from Ibn ‘Abbas that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` “When food is served, take from the sides and leave the middle, for the blessing descends in the middle.”

Explanation:
1:
This teaches the etiquette and manner of eating: do not eat from the middle, rather eat from what is in front of you and from the sides.
The reason is that blessing (barakah) descends in the middle of the food,
and so that everyone may benefit from this blessing.
Another point is that by doing so, the portion of food that remains will stay clean and pure,
and will be useful for others.
Therefore, this should be kept in mind.
