Hadith 3275

حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ كَثِيرِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ الْحِمْصِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عِرْقٍ الْيَحْصَبِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ بُسْرٍ : أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أُتِيَ بِقَصْعَةٍ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " كُلُوا مِنْ جَوَانِبِهَا ، وَدَعُوا ذُرْوَتَهَا يُبَارَكْ فِيهَا " .
´‘Abdullah bin Busr narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was brought a bowl (of food). The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` “Eat from the sides and leave the top, so that it may be blessed.”

Benefits and Issues:

➊ By "the top," what is meant is the food in the middle of the vessel, which, when the vessel is full, is somewhat elevated compared to the edges.

➋ When those eating from a single vessel eat from what is in front of them, this hadith is also acted upon, because the food in the middle is eaten after the edges have been consumed.

➌ By acting upon the Prophetic hadith, blessings are attained in sustenance.
