´‘Abdullah bin Busr said:` “I gave the Prophet (ﷺ) a gift of a sheep, and the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) sat on his knees to eat. A Bedouin said: ‘What is this sitting?’ He said: ‘Allah has made me a humble and generous slave (of Allah) and has not made me arrogant and stubborn.’”

Benefits and Issues:
➊ Muhammad Fuad Abdul Baqi rahimahullah has described various forms of “Ittika’” (leaning/reclining):
(a) Sitting cross-legged (with legs folded under oneself).
(b) Sitting in a fully relaxed, open manner.
(c) Sitting with one’s back against something (such as a wall, etc.).
(d) Sitting while placing one hand on the ground and leaning on it for support.
Generally, the third meaning is intended by this word.
➋ Sitting on the knees refers to sitting as in the posture of Tashahhud (in prayer), or squatting, i.e., raising the shins upright and placing the soles of the feet flat on the ground and sitting upon them.
➌ Every form of arrogance is blameworthy, and humility in every matter is praiseworthy.
