´Kathir bin Sulaim narrated that he heard Anas bin Malik say:` “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘Whoever would like Allah to increase the goodness of his house, should perform ablution (wash hands) when his breakfast is brought to him and when it is taken away.’”
Explanation & Benefits
Maulana Ataullah Sajid
Benefits and Issues:
In this hadith, "ablution" (wudu) refers to washing the hands and mouth, but this narration is weak; therefore, if the hands are clean, it is permissible to eat without washing them.
Similarly, regarding the matter after eating: if there is a need for cleanliness, then the hands must certainly be washed; otherwise, washing them is not legally (shar'an) necessary.
