Brief Explanation
1؎: That is, when one man eats to his fill, that food will suffice for two men; they can subsist on it, though they may not be fully satiated. Some have said: The meaning of the hadith is that when there is a shortage of food and Muslims are hungry, it is recommended (mustahabb) for each person to share his food with another brother; in such a case, both can survive. There is also benefit in eating less: a person remains alert and agile, and health remains excellent. Some have said: The meaning is that when two Muslim brothers join in a man's food and eat by mentioning the name of Allah, then that food will suffice for both, and there will be blessing (barakah). And Allah knows best.
