Hadith 3216

حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ كَاسِبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْنُ بْنُ عِيسَى ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " مَا قُطِعَ مِنَ الْبَهِيمَةِ وَهِيَ حَيَّةٌ ، فَمَا قُطِعَ مِنْهَا فَهُوَ مَيْتَةٌ " .
´It was narrated from Ibn ‘Umar that the Prophet (ﷺ) said:` “Whatever is cut from an animal hen it is still alive, what is cut from it is Maitah (dead meat).”

Benefits and Issues:
(1)
It is forbidden (haram) to cut any part from the body of a living animal.

(2)
Meat cut in this manner is haram, even if the name of Allah (takbir) is pronounced at the time of cutting.
