´It was narrated that Abu Sa’eed Al-Khudri said:` “The Prophet (ﷺ) passed by a man who was dragging a sheep by its ear. He said: ‘Leave its ear alone and hold it by the sides of its neck.’”

Benefits and Issues:
The mentioned narration is weak; however, it can be included under the rulings regarding showing mercy to animals, that is, one should not adopt such a method for transporting an animal from one place to another that causes it distress. For example:
Some people hang live chickens upside down by holding them from their legs; in this way, the animals experience pain during transportation.
Slaughtering one animal in front of another is also contrary to mercy.
However, if such caution is not possible, then it may be done in that situation.
