Explanation & Benefits
Maulana Ataullah Sajid
Benefits and Issues:
➊ Even in the era of ignorance (Jahiliyyah), a sacrifice was performed on behalf of the child, and the animal’s blood was applied to the child’s head. Islam maintained whatever practice was correct and prohibited whatever was wrong. (Sahih Ibn Hibban, al-‘Aqiqah, Chapter: Mention of the Command for One Who Performs ‘Aqiqah for His Child, Hadith: 5284)

➋ It is not permissible to practice the customs of non-Muslims; however, if something is supported by the Qur’an and Hadith, then performing that act is permissible.
