Benefits and Issues:
➊
Apparently, this hadith establishes the obligation (wujub) of sacrifice (qurbani), but from other evidences, its recommendation and sunnah status (istihbab wa istinān) is understood. Therefore, the hadith scholars (muhaddithin), considering all these evidences, have decided that sacrifice is a confirmed sunnah (sunnah mu’akkadah).
That is, it is an important and emphasized ruling.
It is not obligatory (fard), however, despite having the means, to avoid this confirmed sunnah in any way is not correct.
➋
Sacrifice is an expression of the collectivity (ijtima‘iyyat) of Muslims, and through it, mutual relations are improved.
➌
One who does not perform the sacrifice does not have the right to participate in the joys of the Muslims; however, this does not mean that he does not need to perform the Eid prayer. Rather, the purpose is to admonish him so that he does not abandon the sacrifice.

One who, despite having the means, neglects or belittles the sacrifice (qurbani)
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah radi Allahu anhu that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said:
«من كان له سعة ولم يضحّ فلا يقر بنّ مصلانا»
Whoever has the means and does not perform the sacrifice (qurbani), let him not come near our Eid prayer place. [سنن ابن ماجه: 3123 وسنده حسن، وصححه الحاكم 4/ 232 ووافقه الذهبي ورواه احمد 2 / 321]
In this narration, Abdullah bin Iyash al-Misri is a narrator about whom there is a difference of opinion; major scholars and others have criticized him, while the majority have declared him trustworthy. It is almost a case of five versus six.
The meaning of the aforementioned narration is that whoever, despite having the means, neglects or belittles the sacrifice (qurbani), should stay away from the Muslims’ Eid prayer place. That is, this narration is to be understood as indicating the recommendation and Sunnah status of qurbani, and it is a refutation of the deniers of hadith.
