It was narrated from Talhah bin ‘Ubaidullah that the Prophet (ﷺ) gave him some wild donkey meat, and told him to distribute it among his Companions, who were in Ihram.

Benefits and Issues:

The mentioned narration is weak in its chain of transmission, while its meaning is authentic, as established by the narration of Sunan al-Nasa’i, which proves that the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) did not eat the meat. (Sunan al-Nasa’i, Manasik al-Hajj, Chapter: What is Permissible to Eat from Game, Hadith: 2819)
Therefore, if someone hunts an animal for himself and then gives it to a person in the state of ihram, it is permissible for the person in ihram to eat its meat, as this ruling is also established from the following narration.

The one who presented this gift was Hazrat Bahzi (radi Allahu anhu). (Sunan al-Nasa’i, Manasik al-Hajj, Chapter: What is Permissible to Eat from Game, Hadith: 2820)
According to one opinion, his name was Hazrat Zayd bin Ka’b (radi Allahu anhu). (Taqrib al-Tahdhib, Chapter: Al-Ansab)

This incident took place at the location of Rawhah. (Sunan al-Nasa’i, reference as above)
