'Shu’bah said that' ‘Asim has added the word «يومئذ» in his narration, and has said: The Prophet (peace be upon him) came to a garbage dump of a people, and standing there, he urinated that day. And A’mash narrates this hadith through the way of «عن أبي وائل عن حذيفة», he does not mention «يومئذ», so I asked Mansur about this, and he narrated to me through the way of «عن أبي وائل عن حذيفة» that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) came to a garbage dump of a people, and he urinated standing up. 1؎.

1؎: The noble habit of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was that he would mostly urinate while sitting. In the previous chapter, in the hadith of Hudhayfah radi Allahu anhu in which this is mentioned, the scholars have provided many explanations, most of which are not free from contrivance. It can be said that on that occasion, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam did so to demonstrate permissibility, or due to a severe necessity; otherwise, urinating while standing is prohibited. The denial by Umm al-Mu’minin A’ishah radi Allahu anha is based on her knowledge—she is describing the usual practice, while Hudhayfah radi Allahu anhu reported his own observation, which was a one-time incident and serves as evidence for permissibility.
´Shu'bah narrated from 'Asim from Abu Wa'il from Mughirah bin Shu'bah that:` The Messenger of Allah came to the garbage dump of some people and urinated while standing up. (Hasan) Shu'bah said: "That day, 'Asim said: 'Amash reported this from Abu Wa'il, from Hudhaifah, but he did not remember it (correctly). So I asked Mansur about it, and he narrated it to me from Abu Wa'il, from Hudhaifah, that the Prophet came to a dump of some people and urinated while standing.'"

Commentary: The difference in the chain of narration has been clarified by Imam Ibn Majah rahimahullah himself, which makes it clear that this difference does not affect the authenticity of the hadith. Since both Hudhayfah radi Allahu anhu and Mughirah radi Allahu anhu are Companions, whichever of the two narrated from the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, the hadith will be authentic, not weak. Therefore, in terms of its chain, the hadith is authentic.
