´It was narrated that Ibn ‘Umar said:` “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) entered the Ka’bah on the Day of the Conquest (of Makkah), with Bilal and ‘Uthman bin Shaibah, and they locked the door behind them from the inside. When they came out, I asked Bilal: ‘Where did the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) pray?’ He told me that when he entered, he turned to his right and prayed in the direction that he was facing, between the two columns.”
Explanation & Benefits
Maulana Ataullah Sajid
Benefits and Issues:
➊
Entering the Ka'bah and performing prayer inside it is permissible.
➋
Entering the Ka'bah is not a part of Hajj or Umrah.
The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) entered the Sacred Ka'bah at the time when Makkah was conquered. (Fath al-Bari: 3/592 Hadith: 1601)
➌
At that time, there were six pillars inside the Sacred Ka'bah.
Three were in one row and three in another row.
The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) entered through the door, proceeded forward, and performed prayer between two pillars.
➍
It is mentioned in Sahih al-Bukhari that along with the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) were Bilal (radi Allahu anhu), Uthman bin Talhah (radi Allahu anhuma), who was the key-bearer of the Ka'bah, and Usamah bin Zayd (radi Allahu anhu), who also entered the Sacred Ka'bah. (Sahih al-Bukhari, Book of Hajj, Chapter: Closing the House and Praying in Any Part of the House One Wishes, Hadith: 1598)
In one narration of Sunan al-Nasa'i, Fadl bin Abbas (radi Allahu anhuma) is also mentioned. (Sunan al-Nasa'i, Book of the Rites of Hajj, Chapter: Entering the House, Hadith: 2909)
➎
The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) performed two rak‘ahs of prayer inside the Sacred Ka'bah.
And after coming outside, he also performed two rak‘ahs. (Sahih al-Bukhari, Book of Prayer, Chapter: The Statement of Allah the Most High: “And take the Maqam of Ibrahim as a place of prayer” , Hadith: 395)
