Hadith 3060

حَدَّثَنَا حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَنْبَأَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ " أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمْ يَرْمُلْ فِي السَّبْعِ الَّذِي أَفَاضَ فِيهِ " قَالَ عَطَاءٌ : وَلَا رَمَلَ فِيهِ .
It was narrated from ‘Abdullah bin ‘Abbas that the Prophet (ﷺ) did not walk quickly (Ramal) during the seven circuits of Tawaful-Ifadah (done on 10th day of Dhul-Hijjah).

640 Benefits and Issues:
➊ From this hadith, it is understood that there is no ramal in the Tawaf al-Ifadah and Tawaf al-Wada‘. Ramal is only in the Tawaf al-Qudum.
➋ Tawaf al-Qudum refers to the first circumambulation (tawaf) that is performed immediately upon entering Makkah.
➌ It should also be kept in mind that ramal is only for men, not for women. However, if for some reason a pilgrim misses ramal in the Tawaf al-Qudum, it is not necessary to make up for it.
