´It was narrated that Yazid bin Shaiban said:` “We were standing in a place that was far from the place of standing. Ibn Mirba’ came to us and said: ‘I am the messenger of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) to you. He said: “Stay where you are today for today you are on the legacy of Ibrahim.’”
Explanation & Benefits
Maulana Ataullah Sajid
Benefits and Issues:
➊ The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) stayed at the foot of the mountains near the rocks.
➋ It is not necessary for the pilgrim (haji) to stay at the exact place in Arafat where the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) stayed; rather, except for the valley of Arafah, he may stay anywhere in the entire plain of Arafat wherever he finds space.
➌ In our Shari‘ah, the rulings and issues of Hajj are according to the Shari‘ah of Ibrahim (alayhis salam). Whatever changes the people of Arabia had made in them, or whatever innovations they had introduced, the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) corrected them through his actions and taught the correct method.

Commentary:
All of Arafat is a place for standing (wuquf). Although the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) stood near Jabal Rahmah, not everyone can stand at that spot; therefore, wherever a person finds a place, he should stay there—there will be no difference in reward.

Commentary:
1:
This sentence is interpolated; it is an explanatory statement by Amr ibn Dinar.
2:
By "Mashā‘ir" are meant the places of ritual acts and the ancient standing sites, that is, you should also stand at these locations because standing at them has been passed down as a tradition since the time of your father Ibrahim (alayhis salam).
